Basic interview questions

These are common interview questions mostly asked to bioinformaticians looking for an entry level job:

  1. Could you walk me through your resume?
  2. How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?
  3. How do work on a team? Do you prefer to work alone or on a team?
  4. How do you keep yourself organized when balancing multiple projects.
  5. Why do you want to work at this company?
  6. What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
  7. Tell me about a time you demonstrated leadership skills?
  8. Tell me about a time you made a mistake or failed?
  9. What motivates you?
  10. Where do you see yourself in five years?
  11. Do you have any questions for me?

More than be prepared to answer questions, the candidate is expected to ask good questions and that may be the most important make-it-or-break-it moment of the first interview.
